Supernatural Season 5 Episode 1 Review

The final seal is broken. The Winchester brothers run towards the exit of the church, but the doors slam shut. A deafening hum forces the brothers to cover their ears. A flash engulfs them and when their visions return, they find themselves on a plane that is about to land near the church. A beam of light emanates from the church and causes the pilot to take evasive maneuvers.
There is another flash. Sam and Dean find themselves driving down the highway in the Impala. They figure they were saved from the church and the plane by angels. They go back to Chuck’s house to try to find Castiel and find it in shambles. Chuck tells Sam and Dean that Castiel exploded during his encounter with the archangel. Zachariah, the angel, appears and tells Dean and Sam the apocalypse is almost upon them. He tells Dean they want him to kill Lucifer before he finds a vessel. Dean calls a Zachariah a two-faced douche and tells him he doesn’t want anything to do with him. Zachariah sees that Dean is bleeding. Dean reveals a banishing symbol on a doorway, places his hand on it, then sends Zachariah away.

Later at a motel, Sam gives Dean an angel-hiding hex bag that he says he learned how to make from Ruby. Sam tells Dean his demon urges went away during their plane ride. Sam tries to apologize for leaving him, but Dean tells him to forget about it.
