Geoff Johns, popular comic writer (Legion) returns for a story featuring the Justice Society of America - a team that preceded the Justice League by a generation. This episode will be divided into two parts. And will be airing as two hours episode. The part 1 called Absolute Justice.
Spoiler for Hour 1 of "Absolute Justice" :
Several spoilers about Smallville’s Justice Society version : Justice Society was active in 1970’s but they had since disbanded. The Justice Society returns "to give these screwed up guys of the next generation a needed smack-down," Geoff Johns says. He add that " They will be heroes that come out of ’ retirement ’ to see how the current generation operates."Johns says the characters will be in their 40’s.
There are a lot of memories and paraphernalia that "viewers will be familiar with."
The Justice Society members that will appear on Smallville :
-Caster Hall a.k.a Hawkman, he is reincarnation of prince from thousand of years ago. He now works in a museum as archaelogist. Hawkman will be played by Michael Shanks from Stargate. Michael Shanks in the interview on Huffington Post said : "Hawkman being the alpha in the Justice Society, being someone who...has made some missteps along the way, can or could represent a type of mentor character to Clark in his leadership abilities with his burgeoning team members of the Justice League. He represents a character that has a lot of wisdom to pass down to this next generation, so there is a strong possibility that once the initial phase wears off that there will be a coming together of those two to paint a larger potrait of the future, of what Clark has available to him and what his options are."
About his appearance on Smallville : he will be fly, has a mace with the wings and big bronze chest plate. Hawkgirl will be referenced and we will learn where she is now. Hawkman will be fly into the roof of Watch Tower.
-Kent Nelson a.k.a Doctor Fate. Dr. Fate has a helmet which can predict the future and can teleport. He will be played by Brent Stait, while his wife Inza Nelson will be played by Erica Carroll. Carroll’s previous credits include two episodes of Supernatural. Michael Shanks said that, "There’s a really neat relationship between he and Hawkman that makes the first episode quite heart-wrenching. There are aspects of it that are heart-wrenching as a result of that relationship. And I thought that was a very cool aspect of the first episode."
-Courtney Whitmor a.k.a Stargirl, will be played by Britt Irvin (Aliens In America).
-John Jones a.k.a the Martian Manhunter, played by Phil Morris. Some trust issues with Martian Manhunter "have to be dealt with."
Beside these superheroes, the preview aired on The CW for Smallville’s return included some shots of Sandman (Wesley Dodds version) as well as a shot of the Green Lantern’s ring.
Erica Durance only appears on first part. And her part will have something to do with the romance and "Tess’s dark plotting."
