The Raid, Premiere Schedule and Trailer

If you are action movies fans, or maybe following world film festivals, you must have heard about The Raid. At Toronto Film Festival on September 18th, this movie was nominated as the best action movie and won Best Midnight Madness award. Not only in Toronto, this movie was also played at Sundance Film Festival, Sitges International Film Festival, SXSW Film Festival, dan Busan Film Festival. This movie is produced and starred by Indonesians.

It was the second time for the director Gareth Evans and the actor Iko Uwais to work together in one project after their previous action movie 'Merantau" (2009).

Lately, Gareth Evans shows his interest to make both documentary and commercial movies related with Indonesia's cultures. According to IMDB, he collaborated with Indonesia's senior actress, Christine Hakim (Eat,Pray, Love) to make a documentary movie "The Mystic Arts of Indonesia: Pencak Silat".

Besides played by Iko Uwais, The Raid was also played by another actors such as Ananda George, Ray Sahetapy, Joe Taslim, Doni Alamsyah, and Pierre Gruno.

The Raid was launched together in several countries like Indonesia, Australia, Canada and the US in March 23rd 2012.

For the broadcast in the USA, this movie will be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, which also distributed 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". The word "Redemption" is added special for the USA version, so it is called 'The Raid: Redemption." However, there are no differences in the storyline and it still uses Bahasa Indonesia. And for the USA version, Mike Shinoda and Joseph Trapanese were trusted to add music effects to the movie.
