Are there any connection between Supernatural (TV Series) and Christianity ?

I am one of Supernatural’s fan. Something that I like from that show is because they have beautiful guest stars from any type of women. And the funniest and light environment on this show. Some episodes are very scary but some of them are very funny (although still around on Supernatural phenomena). Be sides the family’s values on this TV Series.

But, when it comes to serious things like symbols, rituals etc, sorry I have to say the truth. As a Christian, I like to comparing the elements on Supernatural like symbols, rituals, evil spirits, live after dead etc on Christian’s viewpoints. So, if you are not a Christian and doesn’t want to know anything about Christianity, you may leave this page. But, if you are open minded and interesting in new knowledge whether you believe it or not, you may accompany me.

I don’t have any intention to harm Supernatural’s fans. This articles just my way to confide everything that turns up when I watch Supernatural.

Lucifer

Supernatural : On season 3 Episode 4 Sin City, there are beautiful girl (if I not wrong her name Casey) who possessed by demon. She and Dean goes to Casey’s basement to doing whatever they want to. Actually, Dean knew that Casey possessed by nameless demon. In sum, Dean and Casey trapped on the basement and have a little talk.

Casey revealed if on the demon’s world, they believe on Lucifer. The ancestor of demons. The first of demons. The Satan. Actually, Casey said, Lucifer is an angel but because he refused take a bow in front of human so God banished him. The reason Lucifer refused to bow is because he thinks human doesn’t deserves it. Casey said that Lucifer meant "light bringing".

Christian : Yes, indeed. Lucifer meant "light bringing" but he has another meaning : morning star or on Bible "Eastern Star". He was one of angel’s headman. Be sides him, there are Gabriel (God Messenger to men), Mikhail /Michael ( A Headman of War’s Angels). Lucifer itself was a Headman of Praise and Worship’s angels. He was very beautiful. One of God’s favored angel but he became arrogant. And thought that he could replaced God’s position. So, the why he banished by God because he invited others to rebel to God and not because he refused to take a bow to human. In that time, human still doesn’t exist yet. God banished him and his followers to the Earth. (Read Isaiah 14 : 11-15 for further information ).

Pentagram

Supernatural : Pentagram is one of recurring symbols on Supernatural. It’s become sign that there are any spiritual activity or demon’s involvement. So whenever the Winchester find any pentagram symbol, they presume that on that site there are demons that have to exorcist.

Christian : On science branch of occultism in Christianity, pentagram referred to Lucifer’s symbol. It means Dawn Star. It is one of forbidden symbol to Christian. Whether we know or not know it mean, there are not allowed for us to have the symbol. Having it referred on Christ’s blasphemy.

Ankh Symbols

Supernatural : There was an episode about urban legend on small city. That a farmer killed his daughters than he committed to suicided. Some teenage use the farmer’s house as an initiation place and reported about farmer ghost’s appearance. And with that some female teens found by her friends (on initiation) swing in that house. When Dean and Sam investigated the house, they not found anything.

But on the second investigation, they found pentagram and some symbols. They found about one symbol that looks like very familiar to Sam, but he forgot about it. The symbol is ankh.

Christian : Ankh is an object or design resembling a cross with a loop instead of the top arm, used on the ancient Egypt as a symbol of life. It also referred on the symbol of Sun god, Ra and as a symbol of sex orgies. So, the symbol including on forbidden symbols on Christianity. It become one of occultism symbols like pentagram. Having it referred Christ’s blasphemy.

Holly Water

Supernatural : Holly Water is one of demon’s repellent elements. I don’t know exactly how the Winchester or the hunters get the holly waters. If not wrong, they put a cross on water and it becomes holly water. Every demons or people who possessed by demons will be burned if they splashed on it. So, it becomes an effective way to test are you are human, human who possessed by demons or demons it self.

Christian : It maybe different from Catholic. But, there are no holly water. In fact, in Christian exorcism we believe that actually there are no things or places on the Earth that can hurt or retain demons. Water become holly and can repellent demons not because we put a cross on it but if with a faith on Jesus, we pray and ask Jesus to sanctify it. And this apply to all things. In fact, instead water Christian prefer olive oil to sanctify and be one of demon’s repellent. Of course, because a faith on Jesus.

Cross

Supernatural : Although the Winchesters are not believers but they often use cross as one of demon’s repellent. Actually there are lot of movies which use cross as one of demon’s repellent. On The Exorcist, the main character use the cross to exorcist the demon. And when demons touched it, they burned and hurt.

Christian : Cross actually referred a spiritual symbol of Jesus’ sacrifice to redeem human from eternal punishment. As cross is form of punishment that God elected. It referred on Jewish Law that crucified as most condemned and embarrassing. So, put a cross in your house or your door not keeping demons away from your properties. And can’t make you invulnerable on demon’s attack. Look on Holly Water section about Christian view point about exorcism and things.

Full Moon

Supernatural : There are some rituals that it seems has to do on Full Moon. Or some demons do activities on or waiting Full Moon. Like on Season 3 Episode 2. When the demon will finished eat life energies of the victim on the full moon. Or Season 3 Episode 3 when the rabbit feet burn on some ritual on full moon night.

Christian : It revealed on a research and interview with the former of Satan’s worshipper on some books that indeed the demon followers do their rituals on the full moon night. It not explain why. For further information about it read Rebecca Brown’s book (Rebecca Brown is one of God’s Servant most famous which her field of attendance is in helping former Satan’s worshippers or demon’s followers.

Simone is hypnotist. Lex using her to made Clark and Lana broke up. Lex black mailed her using her secret that she had murdered her father just to stolen his magical stone. With the magical stone, her hypnotic ability can increasing drastically. Every men on the Earth will takes a bow and lose their control when she uses it. And it mean Clark too.

Clark and Lana have a several issues, one of those are because Clark kept the secret and seem avoid her. And he looks like do not want to spent a time to having "special moment" with Lana. So, when Lana caught them flirting she furious and broken hearted. Simone did her job so well but it ended with her dead.

9. Serinda Swan (Zatanna Zatara)

Serinda Swan portrayed Zatanna, a Mistress of Magic. She on Metropolis be sides because she has a road show in there, is to looking Oliver. She needs Olie’s help to find her father’s book. The Magic Book contains all legacy of her father about greatest magic. Evidently, John (her father) did not have much time to taught Zatanna about another magic than to granted people wishes.

On her journey to get Oliver help, she granted Chloe’s wish literally. When Clark and Chloe (with Lois’s body) confront Zatanna, there are a little debate on what Zatanna doing. So, Zatanna try to prove that what she does is right with granted Clark’s wish. Much like the original show, 90210 follows the move of a family (parents Debbie and Harry Wilson, their daughter Annie and adopted son Dixon). This time however, Harry is actually from Beverly Hills and comes back both to look after his mother Tabitha and to work as the principal at West Beverly Hills High School. All of them struggle to adjust to their new lives: Annie has a hard time balancing romances (starting with rich kid Ty) and friendships as well as popularity and identity; Dixon has issues with his adoption and African-American heritage; Harry and Debbie struggle with the revelation that Harry has a son with Tracy Clark, his former high school sweetheart.

Tracy Clark has a daughter of her own, Naomi Clark, who dates jock Ethan Ward, brief rival of Dixon, with whom she soon breaks up and who gets back with Annie with whom he had a fling years prior. Both girls alternate between enemies in a love triangle and almost sisters due to their parents’ child. Their respective mothers find in a love triangle of their own after Tracy’s marriage to Charles Clark implodes (which Naomi takes quite badly) and she appears to want Harry back. Naomi’s fight with Annie forces her out of the crowd after she uses Annie’s ex-boyfriend Jason as a weapon to get back at her for hiding her relationship with Ethan. She becomes friends with older girls and starts flirting with Ozzie, a rather alternative student and later becomes attracted to a bartender named Liam whom she soon finds out is actually underage and becomes a student at West Beverly High. Meanwhile Ethan and Annie’s relationship hit the rocks as he begins to rethink his life after a car accident and gets more or less attracted to Rhonda, the girl he hit. Soon Naomi and Liam begin a fling, and once she becomes friends with Annie again, he begins to pursue the both of them.

Naomi’s best friend, fallen starlet Adrianna Tate-Duncan battles a drug addiction. This gets her into trouble when Harry decides to clean the school, thanks to the help of a cop, Kimberly McIntyre, under cover as a student. Kimberly begins a relationship with teacher/lacrosse coach Ryan Matthews, which gets him into trouble with the school. Guilt-ridden, Kimberly does her best to solve the case, giving Ryan his job back, although he takes a leave of absence to rethink his life, and Adrianna lands in rehab, after almost getting Naomi in legal troubles as she took the blame for the drugs. There she begins a relationship with Navid Shirazi, head of the school’s paper and Dixon’s best friend, who paid for her rehab. Although at first she only does it to "repay" him, they start to genuinely care about each other. Adrianna later discovers she is pregnant as a result of her promiscuity while she was addicted. After telling Navid of her pregnancy, he breaks up with her. It is later revealed that the father of Adrianna’s child is Ty, although it is unclear when they slept together. She and Navid get back together when he realizes that even though she is a mess he can’t get over her, and get engaged, although he alienates his family when he tells them that the child is not his and gets upset when Adrianna reveals her son is Ty’s.

Another featured character is Erin Silver, Kelly Taylor’s half sister and Naomi’s former best friend, until Silver’s father’s affair is revealed. She quickly befriends Annie and starts dating Dixon, who is somewhat taken aback by her not-so-90210 lifestyle, as she is a virgin who doesn’t care about popularity. In a multi-episode arc that culminated in a very special episode, it is revealed that Silver has bipolar disorder *. Kelly Taylor is now a guidance counselor at West Beverly and has a son named Sammy. She briefly dates Ryan before leaving to work on her relationship with former boyfriend and father of Sammy, Dylan McKay. This briefly causes friction with Brenda Walsh as both struggle with their lingering feelings towards Dylan. When Kelly returns, she not only discovers Ryan’s relationship with student/cop Kimberly but also that he slept with Brenda, re-creating the rift between the two friends. Following Brenda’s discovery that she cannot have children, however, the women are drawn together in an accord once again. The return of Donna Martin, who has become a well-known fashion designer in Japan, and recently separated from David, she decides to move back to Beverly Hills.

Aang : The Legend of Avatar The Movie

Aang the Legend of Avatar be one of the most successful animated series on Nickelodeon. It The show was critically acclaimed and a massive success for Nickelodeon. So, when it finished with the third book fans want more about the stories (OK, at list I do). So, there are no surprise when they decide to lift up the stories in the movies.

Yup, Aang : The Legend of Avatar (or in US it called : Avatar : The Last Airbender) will be lift up in the movies. Not in animated but in the non animated movies like Dragon Ball which lift up in the movies : Dragon Ball Evolution.

The project is headed by M. Night Shyamalan who desperately needs a new hit on his resume to counter his falling reputation from each of his movies being consecutively worse than the previous.

What raised a sense of worry about this particular project is that many thought it just too difficult to translate the cartoon into live-action without it either being too extreme, goofy and corny (similar to Dragonball Evolution), or it not respecting the source material and therefore, the built-in fanbase.

The situation got real bad later on in the process, when casting announcements started hitting the web and many folks were up in arms over alleged racist casting choices in selecting mostly Caucasian actors to play Asian characters. This was most notable when young pop star Jesse McCartney was cast as Prince Zuko.

Fans were not impressed. Could this situation have any more negatives going for it?

Conveniently, he dropped out, and more conveniently they cast a non-Caucasian actor to replace him. Hot from the buzz surrounding Slumdog Millionaire, the talented Dev Patel stepped in to play the role and I thought it was a great decision.

Continuing the trend of addressing the lack of a multi-cultural cast, further casting announcements were made over a month later adding Aasif Mendvi, Shaun Toub, Cliff Curtis and Keong Sim to the The Last Airbender’s roster.

There were still doubts surrounding the movie and I didn’t feel much positive for the project. That is, until now.

USA Today has a pair of exclusive photos of Noah Ringer, the 12-year old Karate star in full costume as Aang (the Avatar) and of Dev Patel in costume as Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation:

The Last Airbender (the leading title word "Avatar" was dropped as to avoid confusion with James Cameron’s Avatar) is scheduled to open July 2, 2010.

Smallville : Allison Mack Confirmed about Season 10

We knew that Smallville Season 8 Episode finale has aired on May,14 2009. But, before the finale aired, Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) already confirmed that Tom Welling (Clark Kent) has signed for two more season. Yes, you right : Season 9 and Season 10. Five Question for Allison Mack

I first became friends with Allison Mack when I was speaking on a panel in Vancouver, and she was visibly heckling me from the audience (she’ll deny that’s the right word for it, but she was). Someone introduced us and we got along well, and I had no idea until later that she’s been a regular on the WB/CW series, Smallville, for nearly 200 episodes. On the show, Allison plays Chloe Sullivan, friend to Clark Kent/Superman (played by Tom Welling). By total coincidence, Allison is also a co-star in a new Cinetic release, Melora Hardin’s You (now available on iTunes). Hardin, herself a TV actress in shows like The Office, makes her directorial debut in this film about a grieving widower struggling to raise his daughter as a single parent. Allison Mack portrays the daughter in adulthood. I decided to take the opportunity to check in with Allison (who lives in Vancouver, where Smallville is filmed) to talk about the new movie:

Me: How did you get involved with the film You?

Mack: I have grown up with both Melora and her mother Diane as being hugely inspirational and influential women in my life. I looked to both of them to build my sense of who I would like to grow myself into being. So when the opportunity arose to work with both women who have mentored me most of my life, I jumped at the chance.

Me: How did your own childhood experiences inspire your performance?

Mack: My childhood experiences with Melora and the whole Hardin family really gave me a sense of familiarity and confidence that was so genuine and true. It was a very easy role to walk into because it felt as though I had so much real life experience to draw from in respect to relating with everyone in the family.

Me: You’re an actress, but like Melora, you’ve started stepping behind the camera recently (as a producer of a short film and a director for an episode of Smallville). What has that experience been like?

Mack: The experience of becoming what I would consider to be a “filmmaker� rather than an actress-for-hire has been one of the most humbling and rewarding experiences of my life. I find I am so much more fullfilled and gracious knowing the things I learned about the whole process of creating a film. My love for the craft is infinitely deeper, as well as my appreciation for humanity and teamwork in general. It strengthened my belief that anything is possible if we all work as a team.

Me: What’s the latest with Smallville? How do you like living in Vancouver?

Mack: The latest with Smallville is that we have another season [after this season’s finale on May 14]. Tom has signed for two more, so the show will go until season 10. I will be completed with my contract next year, and I am looking for new and exciting ways to carry out my character’s exit. I love living in Vancouver, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I love the people, the food, the aesthetic, and the life I have built here. It’s wonderful.

Me: You’re a very consistent blogger on your own site. How do you keep that up?

Mack: I made a committment with myself, and then made it public so I would be held accountable, that I would write my thoughts every day. Just a little note checking in with me and the people in the community. It’s a wonderful way to self-reflect, as well as work through whatever is on my mind that night. It’s a nice little check-in.

Smallville Season 8 end, MyDailyPlanet goes to Season 9

As we all know that on July, 14 2009 the last episode of Season 8 aired and Season 8 end. For you who don't watch yet, you can read the review :

This season of Smallville was better than the last few - and yet the last few episodes were starting to force me to extend my patience bubble farther out than normal. Stilletto? It felt like it was trying to fall apart for me to some degree, yet I suppose what can you expect from a fantasy show that has inexplicable superpowered aliens?

This reflection on the Smallville season finale will have spoilers…

The Smallville season finale brought closure to some story lines, had some oddball hanging logic at spots, fulfilled some past tidbits on who was going to die and set us up for the next season.

Though I’m not sure what they intend to do with next season or if after this episode, they’ll have viewers coming back. I’ve already seen some comments about this finale and they haven’t been pretty.

Clark, You Are Going To Die

The episode starts out with Clark learning from Cosmic Boy that he’s going to die tomorrow. Cosmis Boy also gives Clark another time travel ring, asking Clark that he send Doomsday to their time where they are prepared to deal with him.

Meanwhile, back at the super large mansion, Tess Mercer loses her Kandor Orb. Here’s the issue with the Orb… if Doomsday dies, something worse is released from the Orb.

Clark’s big plan is to bury Doomsday but the Justice League double crosses Clark and dupes him into a trap where Green Arrow plugs Clark with a green arrow… really… a kyrptonite laced arrow. It really was green.

Clark dan Jimmy mati.

Smallville Season 8 Episode Final : Doomsday tayang pada Kamis, 14 Mei 2009. Kisah episode akhir ini menceritakan mengenai Oliver Queen yang mendesak Clark untuk membunuh Davis/Doomsday karena dia terlalu berbahaya untuk dibiarkan tetap hidup.
Tetapi seperti biasa, Clark tidak mau membunuh dan memutuskan bahwa dia akan mengubur Davis dalam sebuah ledakan besar. Sebelum itu Cosmic Boy (anggota Legion of Superhero dari masa depan) mengatakan bahwa Clark akan mati. Dia meminjamkan Clark cincin waktu dan menawarkan Clark mengirim Doomsday ke masa depan di mana Legion of Super-Heroes sudah siap untuk menghadapi Doomsday. Tetapi Clark kelihatannya tidak mengambil kesempatan ini. Dan tetap pada rencananya.

Justice kelihatannya mendukung tetapi pada akhirnya mereka mengkhianati Clark. Oliver memanah Clark dengan panah Kryptonite. Justice punya rencana tersendiri untuk Davis/Doomsday. Justice League babak belur dihajar oleh Doomsday. Sementara Jimmy yang melihat Clark terkapar dengan panah hijau berusaha membantu. Saat dia mencabut panah itu, Clark sembuh dan akhirnya Jimmy mengetahui rahasia Clark.

Jimmy dibunuh Davis

Jimmy berusaha membantu Chloe menyelamatkan Davis. Tetapi Davis yang cemburu buta justru menusuk Jimmy dengan pipa lalu mengejar Chloe. Jimmy berusaha menolong Chloe tetapi dia justru mati karena tusukan pipa itu.

Lois menghilang

Di tempat lain, terjadi perkelahian antara Lois dan Tess setelah Lois menerobos masuk ke mansion Lex. Tess menuduh Lois mencuri Orb ( globe krypton). Tess kalah di tangan Lois. Tetapi saat Lois menemukan cincin waktu milik Clark (yang dengan bodohnya ditaruh di meja kerjanya) akhirnya Lois menghilang (mungkin dia ke masa depan).
Clark mencari di mana Doomsday berada dan mendapati Justice babak belur. Akhirnya mereka berhadapan. Singkat cerita Doomsday terkubur dalam sebuah ledakan besar.

Pemakaman Jimmy

Clark merasa menyesal karena sisi kemanusiaannya menghalangi dia membunuh Doomsday dan akhirnya malah menimbulkan banyak korban. Di pemakaman Jimmy, Clark memutuskan bahwa Clark Kent sudah mati. Mulai dari sekarang, dia akan melakukan apapun yang perlu dilakukan untuk menghentikan kejahatan.

Sementara itu, di tempat lain lambang Zod muncul. Ya, Zod kembali....

Why Heroes Special ?

Heroes is one of most popular American TV Series now. Although there many TV Series with the same main idea : super powered human. So, why Heroes become so popular than others ?

1. An ordinary people with extraordinary powers

Heroes’ Character are not superheroes who wearing tight suit from latex. No well-trained fighters who dedicated himself/herself to against crime either. But they are just an ordinary people like us. So, all fans from many background can identified themselves with one or more Heroes’ characters. I think all people have experienced a moment when they looked themselves and thought : " There must be something else that I could do. Not just what I do now..." or " I feel that my destiny more greater than now.."

2.Fresh characters and storylines

When we watches Heroes, we absolutely don’t have any clues about the characters and storylines. Of course not without spoilers and flash news from any sites or blogs. Not like Smallville that took Superman mythology. Almost all people knew about it. And another TV Series like Birds of Prey ( from DC Myth too like Smallville).

Every time new characters appears, we always wondering : Is she/ he has a special ability ? What he’s/ she’s special ability ? Is she/he on good side or not ? Or maybe we shocked with the storylines : Oh my God, he died ! What next ?

3.Multi cultural

Heroes is multicultural. As far as I know, there are almost no else like Heroes. When did we seen American TV Series with Japanese speak Japanese? Or Mexican speak (bahasa Spanyol) ? They are India people ( like Mohinder), Japanese ( like Kaito Nakamura, Hiro and Ando), Latin ( Like Maya), Haitian etc. And those characters with their own cultures and languages not just merely story’s sweeteners.

4. Uniques Special Abilities

Yes, we knew that there are many superheroes can fly. Or be invisible. And many of them can read mind. But a time traveler ? How many time traveler on DC or Marvels ? Or there are any superheroes who able to paint the future ? Does somebody ever described that ability to turn things to gold when he touch it as a special ability ?

I think some special abilities are unique. Like ability to connect to the Internet without any gadgets. Or Micah who can order and control machines.

5. Great Special Effects

Be TV Series with limited budget can’t stop Heroes present a high and impressive special effects. We know that Heroes’ special effects not so perfect but personally I think those are smooth and natural. Not mention that is impresives.

It finally revealed that the gang hired by Lionel. Andrea became a vindictively vigilante and go down to the street. Kick the ass of bad guys. She help Clark find the gang whose rob Martha and got Jonathan’ s watch.

In the ending, she running away from Clark after tried to killed Lionel but interrupted by Clark. Realizing that Clark won’t let her go because she action is breaking the law, she running away.
